Proper Use Of Any Disposal:

  1. Electric Switch Operated: Continuous Feed
    • Run Full Cold Water
    • Turn Disposal On
    • Feed small amounts of food slowly into disposal.  Large amounts of food including shavings, throw into the trash; remnants then run through disposal.  Remember a disposal in NOT a trash compactor.

  2. What You Can Put Through: Food Types
    • Any bones; helps to sharpen blades and keep disposal clean inside
    • Any other foods are fine

  3. What NOT To Put Through:
    • Any spoiled meats; that's like putting wood chips through coated with Elmer's

  4. NO:
    1. Celery
    2. Artichoke Hearts
    3. Banana Peels
    4. Corn Silks
    5. Fresh Onion Stalks
    6. Radish Tops
    7. Shrimp Shells
    8. Seaweed
    9. Asparagus Stalks

***Anything that is stringy of fibrous in structure.***

The disposal does its job chopping up food and actually separates the fiber and pulp.  The fibers go down the drain and get caught on the first rough surface, forming a hair net-like trap then the pulp clogs it up.
