First, how to save water in the shower. Obviously, you should take as short as a shower as possible. Also, always shower, as baths take up much more water. Another thing you can do is get a low-flow showerhead if you don’t already have one. A low-flow shower can significantly cut down on the water you use while bathing. For the sink, only use it as necessary. When brushing your teeth, don’t leave it running, only turn it on to rinse. When shaving, only use when rinsing off the blade. For the toilet, you can install a low-flow toilet. If you have a leak in any of your water appliances, contact Reed’s Plumbing to get it fixed immediately.

The Kitchen

Other than the bathroom, this is the other room that utilizes the most water. Cooking and washing dishes can take quite a toll on your water bill. Surprisingly, one of the best ways to save water in the kitchen is using a dishwasher if you have one. Washing all of your dirty dishes by hand will use much more water than cleaning them in the dishwasher. Of course, this depends on the number of dirty dishes you have. If you have just one or two dirty dishes, it’s fine to wash them by hand.

Outside

Watering your lawn and your landscaping can also be quite costly. Try to cut down on these costs by setting timers on your sprinklers. Mulching your plants also helps to retain moisture longer. You can also use rain barrels to collect rainwater to use for watering purposes. If it’s spring, you can usually let the rain take care of your watering duties for you.
