Reed's Plumbing & Excavating

Full HVAC Maintenance List

We are upon a new season, which always means that some maintenance needs to be done around the house. Here’s what you can do to make sure your Fall runs smoothly:

Check your air filter:

If you haven’t checked your air filter within the last month, it’s a good idea to do it ASAP. A good rule of thumb is to change your air filter every 30 to 90 days. If you have pets or open up your windows a lot, you might need to replace your air filter more often than that.

Registers:

Make sure your registers are clear from any furniture or any other items that may be blocking them. Having something on top of it prevents the heating from reaching your living spaces and straining your system.

Carbon Monoxide Detector:

It’s a good time to replace your batteries in your carbon monoxide detector. This needs to be done annually to protect your family from undetected carbon monoxide exposure.

Clear Vegetation and Debris

You will need to clear vegetation and debris from your exterior heat pump unit. The heat pump needs adequate airflow and it also prevents damage to the unit.
